Private Land Elk Hunting - Private land elk hunting can offer not just great bulls but seclusion from heavily hunted public areas. Private land elk hunting is generally very different than public hunting. At Wapiti Outfitters our property borders public land on two sides which offers a lot of pressure from public hunters. We mainly hunt out of blinds and stands rather than walking all over the mountain sides looking for elk and wearing ourselves out. The reason we sit in stands is due to the hunting pressure around us. We get a lot of elk held up on us and we like it that way. The more walking around we do, the more nervous the elk get and will push them out of our property. When private land elk hunting on our property, hunting hours may or may not apply. Sometimes our success comes between the hours (9:00am-4:00pm). So we generally like to sit all day.
