Colorado Elk Outfitter - As a Colorado elk outfitter it is important to have a good hunting vehicle to transport hunters in any condition. When you think of driving on a hunt, pavement and dry conditions most likely escape your mind. We are typically thinking mud, mud and more mud and making sure we have our tire chains before we go. I know quite a few Colorado elk outfitters that their choice of hunting vehicle is a 80’s Suburban, It’s not made out of plastic, you can find them with a manual transmission and you can haul seven adults some what comfortably. It would be nice to use UTV’s to elk hunt but the initial cost is high, their loud and cold. It is nice to have a uUTVs around to get to some places and get game out with, but for those cold days and when you are driving in elk country it is hard to beat a warm dry suburban. As a Colorado elk outfitter it is nice when you get to most of your game with a down hill drag right to a vehicle. We typically can drive to most of our animals with a ATV or UTV. We have a custom trailer that can get two elk in if they are not monster bulls. The key to our trailers is they don’t weigh very much. Some of the terrain we have to go in is super steep, and the lighter you can keep the trailer the better. Most the time we are going down hill with a loaded elk and up hill with an empty trailer so the lighter the trailer is extremely beneficial to our operation.
