Springtime in Elk Country
Springtime in elk county has come and I made my first trip up to the cabin to open things up and start another year. I left last year after fourth season ready to dry out. Last hunting season was snowy, which wasn't a bad thing but I could have done without the mud. I returned this spring having to chain up and watch the snow fly. It was almost as if I had never left last fall. We have had great moisture this winter and so far has carried into a wet spring. I love springtime in elk country, the elk are following the snow line as they migrate to their summer homes and they are everywhere. This is no joke, it seems like every ridge you look at they are speckled with brown spots. It is nice to see so many elk especially in such good shape after a tough winter. Another bonus with springtime in elk country is hoping to trip over the occasional shed horn. So far pickings have not been easy, but there is still a lot of country and fence lines yet to cover. I will try to be better about keeping you all updated, now that I am back in elk county it should be easier. Well until next time, ride with a smile.
