Shed Hunting

Unfortunately I have not had the time to get out and look for any sheds this spring. Shed hunting is great exercise and I enjoy the heck out of it. If you are getting into shed hunting and don't know where to go, ask your local game and fish agency for some ideas. I generally stick to the southern slopes. Fence lines seem to always accumulate a few sheds. If you are not  finding any, don't get discouraged. I like to hunt sheds in areas I am interested in hunting; this way if I don't find any sheds then atleast I am getting some scouting in for future hunts. I expect the shed hunting on the ranch to be average this year. Generally, on big snow years I typically will find larger sheds. This is due to elevation and where the elk generally will be during this migration period. Shed hunting season is almost over so if you haven't gotten out, you'd better hurry. It's great to get out in the woods, get some exercise and start getting pumped for this upcoming elk hunting season.
